I was trained as a sculptor with extensive metalworking skills. Over 30 years working with metal fabrication firms, architects, interior designers and sculptors I have developed a unique metalworking style. My studies in sculpture were with Ike Hay at Millersville University as his assistant and Joe Moss from the University of Delaware as his graduate teaching assistant. I helped sculptors like Harry Bertoia, James Turrell, Charles Ginnever, Mark DiSuvero, George Trakas and Rick Rothrock during a visiting artist program through the National Endowment for the Arts at the University of Delaware. My own sculptures are kinetic works made out of both wood and steel beams. In 1990 I started a series of sculptures called “Totems” which were inspired by native Indian totem of the American northwest. Some of these pieces sculptures are in both museums, sculpture parks and private collections, places like Clamart Enterprises Inc., Millersville University and the Reading Art Museum. Ornamental designs got started when collectors asked me to design furniture and other accessories for them. By word of mouth these designs started to become a vital part of my creative process and really interested my development in to designing furniture. My design works have included custom made headboards, tables, planters, trellis and other aesthetic pieces for both companies and private customers.
